Trends of ambient NOx levels in the Jubail Industrial City, Saudi Arabia, are increasing, and the regulators have identified areas requiring substantial reductions to control the atmospheric NOx concentrations. In this study, a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system for the control of NOx emissions in stack gases from 2-ethyl hexanol plant in the Jubail Industrial City was investigated. At least 70% reduction in NOx concentration in the flue gas post the SCR treatment was achieved. Despite the high cost of the catalyst (approximately 12,000 $/m3) and reagent, the SCR system is cost effective for this high-capacity industrial process.en_US
