dc.description.abstract | In this thesis, the issue of translation across cultures is discussed and the importance of Foreignization and domestication in culture transfer is highlights. The dichotomy, foreignization and domestication, brought to the for of Translation Studies by Venuti, is used to discuss the strategies applied in the translation of quasi-technical discourse. This thesis intends to assess the notions of foreingization and domestication in dealing with cultural transfer through translation, particularly through terminological choices. To this end, a chapter from Andrew Weil's book Natural Health, Natural Medicine is translated into Arabic and analyzed. The thesis concludes that the translator needs to explore how to use foreingzation and/ or domestication 'Successfully'; a very challenging task, in order to handle, particularly the cultural issues involved in translation. | en_US |
